Pippa Edwards – 2026 – Responsible material use in low carbon cement and concrete

Pippa is speaking as part of the 2026 Responsible Raw Materials online conference: ‘Creating Certainty In A Time Of Change’. For the full schedule and to register for your free ticket, please visit the 2026 Conference Page.

Pippa is a chemical engineer with a background in operations process engineering (primarily O&G and specialty chemical sectors). She is currently a Marie Curie Doctoral Fellow at Imperial College London, supporting the EU Horizon funded project network DETOCS (Data Enabling Transformation and Optimization towards Concrete Sustainability).

Pippa’s doctoral research combines process-based and prospective Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with cement science to identify the cement mix designs which produce concretes with low environmental impact and high technical performance (e.g., strength, durability). This work highlights both the importance of performance based functional units, and integrated process models in LCA of cement and concrete systems.

In future, the methods developed in her research can be expanded across mining, manufacturing and processing industries.
