The Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) Student Chapter at the University of Oxford is a group of around 40 predominantly undergraduate Earth Science students with a shared interest in economic geology and the wider resources industry. Members of the student chapter have a broad range of interests, including exploration and mining geology, academia, mining finance and ESG.
The society aims to provide students with opportunities to engage with industry, develop practical knowledge and explore potential career pathways within the mining industry. Through seminars, field trips and other such networking opportunities, students gain insight into both the technical and commercial aspects of the sector.
At this conference, four members of the Oxford SEG chapter (Ria, Tom, Emily, and Ella) will be speaking on behalf of students and recent graduates, to share perspectives on entering the job market, navigating early career decisions and creating opportunities in the context of a changing world.
