Johannes Drielsma – 2025 – Real-world Lessons in Collaboration Leadership

Bio:

Johannes Drielsma is an accomplished communicator and skilled facilitator with proven success in leading interdisciplinary teams to deliver on strategic sustainability goals. Beginning 30 years ago as a graduate environmental engineer in the mine waste & legacy management arm of a major global mining company, and during 20 years of EU Environmental Policy advocacy experience, Johannes has continually honed his ability to help experts bridge cultural, sectoral, and disciplinary divides to solve problems. Johannes’ open and committed leadership style was forged in industrial settings (mining, metal, chemicals, oil & gas, automotive & telecoms), where he repeatedly built trust by visibly recognising shared achievement of common goals. Since 2022, he has practiced Systemic Consensing—a proven method for making challenging group decisions under time pressure and as close as possible to consensus.

Abstract

This 10-minute talk and follow-up discussion aim to offer practical insights drawn from a career in collaborative leadership. Beginning with his experiences as a graduate engineer, which taught Johannes the importance of clearly defined collaborative roles, the talk will traverse his international career, where he learned to connect diverse cultures and engineering disciplines.
