Abstract:
As the world grapples with the escalating demand for critical raw materials, particularly in renewable energy and other vital industries, the need for global cooperation in responsible and equitable governance has never been more pressing. Sourcing of raw materials is a global teamwork; no country has access to all the resources needed to make society work, not in our modern times when almost the entire periodic system is of interest for modern technologies. The collaboration around tools such as the globally endorsed UNFC and UNRMS, provided by UNECE, enables experts from countries from all over the world to discuss and align around principles for sustainable resource management and classification, paving way for resilient responsible sourcing of raw materials. This collaboration enables international policy dialogue among Governments, industry, and other stakeholders to foster sustainable energy development.
