Darren:
With over 20 years of broadcast television and advertising production experience, Darren worked as an Executive Producer and company partner, specializing in leading and delivering complex media projects for global brands and broadcasters. Darren’s pivot to a second climate action focussed career began in 2023 when he began exploring the effects of extreme weather, green washing and the devastating crash in global biodiversity numbers. He decided he couldn’t sit on the side-lines. So he first completed his sustainable production training with ‘Albert’ (BAFTA), then ‘Adgreen’, as well as qualifying as a workplace mental health first aider. Then continued his impact education through Cambridge University’s Institute of Sustainable Leadership ‘Creative and Marketing’ programme, together with securing his place as an On Purpose Associate in early 2024.
Outside of work, Darren enjoys a busy family life and plenty of hobbies that he doesn’t have time for. He has an allotment where he currently cultivates a wide variety of weeds and rocks, but is learning fast and hopefully will be growing a lot of vegetables and insect friendly flowers this summer. Darren is looking forward to developing his new career, driving meaningful social and environmental impact with purpose driven organizations and is much happier now that he is becoming part of the solution.
Darren is the Founder of Hartswood Impact, a project and strategy consultancy for filmed production and operations teams, who want to deliver commercially viable and sustainable working processes that they can be proud of. Both on and off screen.
