Jan-Henk is an integrative business leader with nearly 30 years of experience in various extractive industries. He is motivated by the challenge of our generation to navigate the energy transition.
Jan-Henk spend 24 years with Shell during which he led exploration and development projects around the globe with an emphasis on safety leadership, stakeholder- and project management, before joining BHP as Head of Metals Exploration for Europe-Africa in November 2021. In 2025 he left BHP to start his own consultancy, advising on strategy, business development, operational support and risk management. A geoscientist by background, Jan-Henk holds an Msc from the VUin Amsterdam (Netherlands) and a PhD from the ETH in Zurich (Switzerland). Presently, he acts as strategic advisor to Plethora Private Equity, which is focussed on early-stage mining exploration investment, whilst also acting as an expert witness in an arbitration case in the hydrocarbon industry.
