In October 2023, our co-founder Dr Sarah Gordon was delighted to be an invited speaker for the 8th SGA-IUGS-SEG-UNESCO Short Course on African Metallogeny, and deliver a talk on the topic of “ESG in the context of the low carbon economy: what does it mean?”.
During the talk, Sarah discusses what ESG really means and how this relates to the low carbon economy and just transition. This includes how ESG can or should be applied the mining value chain, not least because mining is a necessity for obtaining all of the raw materials needed in this changing economy.
