Vanessa Richards- The discipline of trust



ABSTRACT

Financial markets have centuries of experience in building mechanisms that support the creation of relationships of trust. Bitter history has taught us that it’s trust that prevents the market rout and the run on the bank.

What can we learn from the world of finance and accounting? How might we apply the same logic to the new imperative to halt environmental collapse?


BIOGRAPHY

Vanessa brings more than twenty years experience in corporate reporting, stakeholder communications and governance. At PwC, EY and now as an independent consultant, she has worked with companies including BHP, South32, Wesfarmers, Stockland and CSL to align their compliance and reporting strategies.

Establishing disciplined management of climate change programs has been the focus of her work since 2018. She produced BHP and South32’s inaugural Climate Change Action Plans and advised on the governance and internal reporting functions required to support execution of those plans.
