Teresa Steele-Schober (MELP, M. Env. Mgt) is an ESG Specialist and has worked extensively in the mining industry as an environmental and sustainability professional for over 20 years. She has worked on a range of commodities including gold, base metals, heavy mineral sands, diamonds, iron ore and coal. Geographically Teresa’s experience covers projects and assets located in southern Africa, Brazil, Chile, Tanzania, Australia, UAE, USA, and the UK. Teresa’s career combines extensive on-mine experience with business unit and corporate level roles within a large multi-national mining company prior to embarking on a consulting career. She has experience in corporate ESG advisory including strategy development, environmental management systems, due diligence reviews, environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), assessment of compliance with international standards, capital project development and the integration of ESG into businesses at multiple levels. As Chair of the SAMESG Committee, which owns the ESG Guideline supporting the South African Mineral Reporting Codes (SAMCODES) as well as the SAMCODES ESG representative on the CRIRSCO ESG Working Group, Teresa is actively involved in industry discussions on the integration of ESG into mineral reporting processes and the mining industry as a whole.
