The ESG component of the JORC Code has always been there, is coming more to the fore.
But that was all before Covid hit. Some economists are peddling the idea that we need to back-burner climate change mitigation until the economy is back on its feet. My view accords with those who contend that the mandatory shut down has created a breathing space for our global environment, and we should take advantage of that, to consolidate the gains in emissions reductions that have occurred. And that would mean that ESG and green finance needs to really come to the fore.
